Our beautiful bride Helen first came to see us back in April 2019 and got to have her special day in her stunning Pronovias gown in September 2021. After trying on lots of other dresses, she finally found the dress of her dreams here at Rachel Ash. Here is some top advice from Helen about buying your dress:

The search

I went to a few wedding dress boutiques before I found Rachel Ash. While the dresses (some 40 or so) I had tried on previously were pretty, I knew they weren’t the fabled ‘one’.

I should make it clear: I am generally skeptical. When everyone talked about ‘the one’ to me after I got engaged and said that I would have this overwhelming feeling that it was ‘it’ and I would cry, I would roll my eyes.

I found Rachel Ash on Google and noticed that they stocked Pronovias dresses, so I made an appointment and began my journey with them. The team at Rachel Ash are able to loan specific Pronovias dresses from the designer that you would like to try if they don’t already have them in stock, so I took the opportunity of selecting a few and popped along to the appointment (with Mum and Grandma in tow!) to try them on.

I found it

There I met ‘Eliora’ and it was everything I had hoped for and imagined - I felt like a princess in it! (The VERY long train probably contributed somewhat to that feeling!) No, I didn’t end up crying BUT I knew it was the dress that I would be buying and both Mum and Grandma agreed.

I have come to the conclusion that ‘the one’ is inevitably the dress that you put on that gives you confidence and makes you feel happy when you see yourself in it.

The fittings

The fitting service that the boutique offered was fantastic too. I’ll be honest and say that at the start of the process I was slightly horrified that I was spending the most amount of money I would ever spend on a single garment when it didn’t fit me properly. However, you can rest assured that, by the end of your journey, it will look as though the dress has been made for you. Katrina is incredibly skilled and my dress fit me like a glove by the wedding day.
